If I was hired by Baruch to use new media to improve the College, I would suggest that we utilize Social Media more effectively and make it school-appropriate. I believe the familiarity with social media should be a plus point for all college students, and if there is a way we can all be connected more efficiently it should be through social media. I believe it makes it easier to connect with our peers, as we will have the domain to further make connections and familiarize ourselves with classmates and other students within Baruch College. Also with implementing the use of social media, it allows easy access for being able to share Baruch related events across each student's timelines and news feeds. Social Media can help coordinate a lot of student events for Baruch and can significantly increase the student involvement at this college. Social Media is able to quickly draw attention to people with alerts and shares by others. I believe this can help create a great social environment for Baruch, and helps welcome incoming college students of Baruch. Social Media should also be used by the staff of Baruch, as it allows students to better understand their school and get an idea of what the college really does for their well-being.
Another suggestion I have comes from an article, "Open Source Textbook program expanding in coming months," written by Andrea Agardy, where Andrea talks about the idea of open source textbooks. My suggestion for this type of "open-source textbook" depicts how we can utilize free resources that are easily attainable to all Baruch College Students. With open source textbooks, we can have Professors come together and create a customized version of their own textbook(s) allowing flexibility in the courses that students will be taking. The idea of an open source textbook allows for an inexpensive method for students to better learn, and an easier system for Professors to better teach their subject at hand. This creates a free-flowing, and coordinated environment for learning for Baruch students as well as the Professors. Being able to customized the text allows the teachers to learn from it to better teach the subject at hand, and to adjust to the students.

I actually wrote the same thing saying that it should be integrated into school use since we are so fond of it and use it on a daily basis.
